Chantal currently works as manager Strategy at FMO. In this role she focuses on guiding a team of professionals to support with setting and implementing FMO’s long term strategy. In addition, she and her team play a role in adding value to clients by supporting on specific projects, sharing knowledge and connecting clients, partners and other stakeholders on various topics. Before that she was the manager Financial Institutions Latin America and the Caribbean (from 1 January 2015 – 1 January 2018). In this role she focused on guiding a team of investment professionals at FMO servicing their clients, financial institutions in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Chantal joined FMO early 2008 as a legal counsel at the legal department, and was one of the managers at the legal department from mid 2009 – mid 2012. After that, she decided to move to the investment side, but first gained experience as a credit analyst at FMO’s credit department. After roughly a year, she became an investment officer within the Financial Institutions Africa team, focussing on Ghana.
Alongside her work, Chantal has contributed to many strategic projects within FMO and founding the female network FMO Femmes. She is an advisory board member of the Women Entrepreneur Debt Fund, where FMO invested alongside IFC, AP2, Swedfund and Goldman Sachs Foundation in providing finance to female entrepreneurs.
Before joining FMO Chantal was an attorney-at-law at Loyens & Loeff N.V. in Amsterdam, where she worked for 5 years in both the labour law and private equity (Management Buy-Outs) departments. She holds a master in Law from Leiden University
