Your Visit to The Hague

Your Visit to The Hague

The Hague is the third largest city in the Netherlands, right behind tourist hotspots Amsterdam and Rotterdam. While not the country’s capital it houses the main seat of government. The Hague is a quirky mix of old world charm and modern amenities. Whichever is your preference, you can find it in The Hague.

Sightseeing is a must with numerous historical and artistic establishments in The Hague. The Peace Palace, which houses the International Court of Justice and the Permanent Court of Arbitration, is an architectural gem and the most photographed building in the city. You can also take a tour of Binnenhof, the Netherland’s political centre where much of the nation’s foremost historical events took place. You can also visit several notable museums, like Mauritshuis Museum, home to Vermeer’s Girl With a Pearl Earring as well as masterpieces by Rembrandt, Jan Steen and Rubens. The Gemeentemuseum offers the unique collection of paintings by Mondrian as well as local artists from The Hague. Palace Noordeinde, the working residence of the House of Orange is another must-see.

Another popular attraction is the Madurodam, a miniature theme park that allows you to view and experience the beauty of The Netherlands in miniature form. If shopping is what you’re looking for, places like the Court District, Denneweg and Hip the Hague should be part of your itinerary. The Hague also boasts of an 11-kilometre beach strip where you can take a stroll along the boulevard or have some seaside fun.
